Aden, Yemen – November 29, 2025

The city of Aden today hosted the closing ceremony of the “Creative Lens for Peace” project, implemented by members of the Peacebuilding Network under the auspices of the University of Aden and the German International University–Aden. The project was supervised by the Women’s Research and Training Centre at the University of Aden, with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Peace Support Facility (PSF).

Official and Academic Remarks

The ceremony opened with a series of official and academic speeches delivered by:

Dr. Fezzan Sinan, Vice President of the Peacebuilding Network

Dr. Nada Al-Sayed, Project Officer at the Women’s Center

Professor Dr. Abdul Fattah Al-Saeedi, President of the German International University–Aden

Professor Dr. Fadl Al-Rubaie, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Higher Education


The program also featured short films conveying messages of coexistence and peace, a brief presentation on the project’s achievements, a poetic performance by Professor Dr. Adel Al-Nimri, Assistant Professor of Arabic Language at the German International University–Aden, and musical segments carrying themes of peace.

Panel Discussion and Working Papers

A panel discussion was held during the event, presenting two working papers:

“Creativity and Media as Tools for Building a Culture of Peace” by Dr. Ashjan Al-Fadhli

“The Lens of Creativity for Peace as a Model for Practice-Based Learning” by Dr. Fezzan Sinan


The ceremony also showcased a special artistic performance by Ali, a talented young member of the deaf community, promoting inclusion and the principle of justice without gender-based violence. This reflected the project team’s commitment to integrating all groups into development and peacebuilding initiatives.

Announcement of Winners and Digital Competition

The event included the screening of videos produced by the three winning groups, following the jury’s review and announcement of final results based on the established selection criteria. The ceremony also highlighted the top three photos submitted by the public in the digital competition, along with the two best video entries, followed by their recognition and awarding.

Closing and Acknowledgments

The ceremony concluded with a segment honoring sponsors, supporters, participants, and the project team. The finale featured traditional folk singing that delighted the audience and added a joyful atmosphere to the event.
