Southern politician Hani Al-Beed stated that the challenges facing the South do not stem from the legitimacy of its political and national cause, nor from the grievances suffered by many of its people, but rather from the mentality that has dominated the political scene over recent years.
Al-Beed explained that a significant part of the current crisis is linked to leadership approaches that have failed to keep pace with the transformations and developments of the current stage.
He noted that some political actors have become more skilled at creating rivalries than building partnerships, while concepts of patriotism have often been shaped by narrow interests and loyalties.
He further stated that certain factions continue to tie their political decisions to external actors without a mature understanding of regional complexities, the interests of the Southern cause, and the delicate balance of the current phase.
At the same time, he said, some individuals with a history of national struggle and political experience still operate with an individualistic revolutionary mindset that no longer aligns with modern political realities.
According to Al-Beed, politics today is governed by a different logic based on partnership, management of interests, and a deep understanding of major regional and international transformations, as well as the priorities of influential powers in the region and across the world.
He stressed that just causes cannot prevail through slogans alone, but require capable minds that can adapt to the moment and produce a realistic and balanced national project capable of understanding both domestic realities and international dynamics.
Al-Beed concluded his remarks by calling for greater awareness, deeper vision, and calmer political positions, away from noise, emotional reactions, empty slogans, and populist rhetoric.
